Novel Structures in Organic Chemistry

Three-dimensional molecular design is important for creation of novel molecular functionality.  We are focusing on the design of unique chiral molecules and the construction of novel chiral architecture based on these.

  • C-chiral Compound: Development of asymmetric carbanion reactions and their application to the synthesis of biologically active compounds.
  • Si-chiral Compound: Chiral non-racemic organosilicon compound having central chirality on silicon is an attractive and potentially useful unnatural chiral molecule, however its asymmetric synthesis had been almost unexplored, so far.  To explore this unique chirality, we are investigating a development of efficient asymmetric approach to chiral silicon compound and its application.
  • Planar Chiral Heterocyclic Compound: Recently, we have found remarkably stable planar chirality in the properly designed medium-sized heterocycles.  These new classes of chiral compounds are potentially useful as a novel type of chiral building block, chiral ligand, and a key component of chiral architecture.  Now we are investigating a development of efficient asymmetric approach to planar chiral compound and its application.
