Surface structure of an ordered surface ternary alloy: Cu(001)-c(6x4)-(Mg+Bi)

Recent progress in surface science has deepened the understanding of structures and properties of clean and adsorbed surfaces. In the near future, specific functions of various properties will enable atomic-scale designs of solid surfaces to be actively researched. Thus, our laboratory concentrates on design, synthesis, and analysis of functional surface-new-materials on the atomic scale. We use low-energy electron diffraction (LEED) to determine the atomic structure of such surface-new-materials and scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) to observe the changes in the atomic structure.
